In Pune, when you hear word molecular you only think of dry ice and nitrogen all over the place. But Orion is different, this molecular kitchen and bar surprised me on my visit there and is sure to surprise you too. This place is not your regular Molecular bar. Keep Reading to know more…
– Ambience –
The ambience will blow your mind. Abhishek, the owner has so many things to tell you about the place and how it was built and what everything means. every corner has it own story.
– MENU –
We were with served Green Apple flavoured Amuse-Bouche before the meal.
– Cocktails –
This is a whiskey-based cocktail which is sweet and had cinnamon ash in it. It tastes like Christmas in your mouth.
Sharabi Lassi –
Sharab + creamy lassi it says it all. With Baileys and Jameson whiskey in it, this drink will be a crowd favourite.
Tamarind Margarita –
Reflection of the ceiling in the margarita.
Banarasi Paan –
The Banarasi Paan is made with vodka and gin and has a nice strong flavour of the betel leaf and gulkand.
– SOUPS –
3 Mushroom Liquid with Air-Dried Mushroom –
This is, hands down, the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had before. Served in a large cup, as it is also known as Cappuccino Soup, with black pepper on the rim. This soup is a must try if you like creamy soups.
Indian Spiced Pumpkin Veloute –
The only mistake Orion did with this soup is that they served it second.
– Appetizers –
Golden Fried Prawns –
These prawns were out of the world. It was again the epitome of perfect. These batter fried prawns were perfectly crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. served with the sweet chilli dip which added to the flavour and texture.
Chicken Kandhari Kebab –
Succulent chicken and perfectly marinated kebabs were good. After setting up such high standards this was the first average (read good) dish that I tasted here.
Murgh Zafrani Kebab with Saffron Foam –
Zafrani style, rich and creamy chicken kebab with saffron foam is something you shouldn’t miss here.
Paneer Makhmali Rolls –
Paneer marinated in beetroot and Indian spices, then char-grilled. It topped with beetroot foam and served with yoghurt and onions. It had a very subtle taste.
– MAINS –
Pumpkin Ravioli in Sage Butter –
Another Pumpkin dish which was a showstopper, Chef Yash loves pumpkin and knows how to use it. Being a hardcore non-vegetarian, this dish was my favourite dish so far. Also, this is a 100% vegetarian dish and even the pasta sheets have no egg in them and you cannot tell.
Beetroot Risotto –
Another beetroot based dish on the menu. The risotto failed to impress. I found the rice to be a bit overcooked and the parmesan cream on the top too overpowering and somewhere the beetroot flavours were lost.
Smoked Chicken Ravioli –
Another must-try here, the ravioli had a minced chicken filling with a creamy sauce. Topped with some cinnamon ash it was another mind-blowing dish here.
Chicken Katsu Kare –
I m a fan of a one-bowl meal. This Japanese dish with rice, chicken and subtle sauce is what you need with a beer on a lazy day. This will definitely top the list of my comfort food.
