I was invited to take part in this unique competition organised by Carpe Diem in Pheonix Marketcity, Pune. Pheonix Marketcity Food Trails 1.0 is based on an idea to create some interesting content when under location, ingredient and budget constraint.
Rules were pretty simple every blogger was randomly given a restaurant in Pheonix Marketcity and a star ingredient. The restaurant that was randomly given to me was Copper Chimney and the ingredient was Chicken. Chicken sounds like an interesting choice but is a very tough ingredient when you have to do something unique with it. Every Blogger was given a voucher of Rs. 1500.
– Copper Chimney –
Copper Chimney is my family’s favourite place as it has a pretty extensive menu which covers both non-veg and veg food. With a different type of seating and a bar that serves amazing cocktails, this fine-dine has it all.
– FOOD –
Copper Kadak Roomali –
We ordered Copper Kadak Roomali to munch on as we were going through the menu to figure out what we should order that will do justice with the ingredient we were given. Kadak Roomali or karari roti was topped with masala papad toppings which went really well with the mocktails. This is a must have chakna if you are planning to drink.
The Copper Chicken Chops –
This starter is recommended and is marked as the restaurant’s speciality on the menu. So I decided to try it. When the dish arrived it filled the entire section of the restaurant with aroma of nutmeg from a distance. This perfectly char-grilled chicken was really tender, juicy and very rich in taste. The green chilli and white pepper maintained a perfect balance between the creaminess and rich flavours and aromas of nutmeg and marination. The chicken pieces were so juicy that they were oozing out juices.
Bagani Bahar –
Two huge Chicken legs are broiled on high flame to make this beauty. These well cooked chicken legs are first dipped into the special mint and spice marinate before it was put over the high flame. This is a deskinned chicken which was green in colour with char burns on the outside and super tender and almost pink on the inside. This dish was a crowd pleaser and everybody loved it. Squeeze a lemon on it and just dig in.
Signature Chicken Bharta –
Signature chicken bharta, it was also a recommended dish on the menu and was different for all the other mains listed, so we decided to order this. The bharta smelled really good. But I expected it to be something along the lines of sukha chicken and baigan bharta. It tasted like shredded chicken pieces in a little less creamy version butter chicken sauce. The dish was on a slightly sweeter side. The taste was really good and I m not complaining but it wasn’t what I expected. Pair this with the butter roomali roti and you’ll love it.
Copper Tawa Biryani with fresh vegetables –
The biryani was really tasty and aromatic. Topped with fried onions it would go well with some burhani raita and papad.
– Beverages –
Kalakhatta Margarita (virgin) –
Kalakhatta flavoured margarita with crushed ice mountain in the glass. This mocktail is nostalgic.
– DESSERTS –
This crunch and creamy Lucknowi dessert has golden roasted vermicelli on the bed of rich and thick rabdi. The rabdi is really creamy and not very sweet, which is a good thing. The texture of the dessert is insanely good because of the roasted vermicelli.
