Pune is welcoming change in the hospitality industry with open arms. This new concept of tiki bar comes all the way from Polynesia. The decor is based on the beautiful tropical culture of the region. Coladas – Tiki Bar & kitchen in WTC, Kharadi will give your eyes as well as your palate a gastronomic ride to Polynesia at that times. The place has tiki statues and totems all over the place.
A tiki bar is an exotic-themed bar that serves various cocktails, especially rum-based, with a tropical taste to it. Mai tai and Zombie cocktail are some of the must have at a tiki bar. Keeping the tiki culture in mind, both the outdoor seating and the indoor seating is designed.

Munch On –
Makad Meva –
Different types of nuts and pomegranate are mixed together along with onions, coriander and chat preparation to make this absolutely delicious chakna.
Cheese Cherry Pineapple –
These nachos come from the land of Sindhi breakfast. Basically, Dal Pakwan has Crisp flavoured puri, known as Pakwan, which is served with spicy dal topped with chutney.
Here the chef did something similar, the pakwan bits (nachos) are topped with green chutney and tamarind chutney with a generous amount of delicious cheese sauce. And to finish, it boiled dal, chopped onions and coriander were sprinkled.
Interesting fact about this is that it did not get soggy like our regular nachos until the end.
Kung Pao Chicken –
Just a regular wok tossed fried chicken preparation. It was topped with cashew, chillis and spring onion.
Jerk Chicken Skewers –
Char grilled chicken on sticks with very mild Jamaican spices.
Murgh Sholay Tikka –
Well marinated spicy chicken tikka with an egg coating. It was unique and extremely juicy.
Mediterranean Paneer Skewers –
These paneer skewers were kind of disappointing, they were under grilled. But you can taste the tomato and Mediterranean spices. A little more time on the grill and you are good to go.
Nasi Goreng –
One of the best Indonesian stir-fried rice I’ve had recently. Served with an egg on top, two chicken skewers, peanut sauce and salad it was one plateful. The rice was a bit dry but had a lot of chicken bits and vegetables to help with that.
Saoji Chicken –
This was served in a dabba with choice of roti or rice and some home style salad.
This dish is particularly close to my heart as it is a preparation from my hometown. Saoji cuisine is known for its heavy spice and is considered to be very hot and spicy.
To sum it up a Saoji curry is a traditional east Maharashtrian spicy curry with kala Masala.
Though this Chicken curry at Coladas was not very hot, so that it suits everyone, and a little thick but the spices were done right. It is served in a tiffin box (dabba) with rice but we asked for tandoori rotis.
– DESSERTS –
Nutella Spring Rolls –
with Vanilla Ice cream
Deep fried wonton pockets stuffed with white chocolate and nutella and served with vanilla ice cream is all you need after the meal. I can swear it got done in a blink of an eye. Its a must have at coladas.
